My name is Crystal Chryst and I am an NASM-CPT, FNS (Certified Personal Trainer, Fitness Nutrition Specialist).
I am also a Star Diamond Beachbody Coach and am a fan of their workout programs. I have completed these full programs: P90X, Insanity, TurboFire, 21 Day Fix, Body Beast, Les Mills Pump, Les Mills Combat, and I have used all of their other programs as well. They are a wonderful addition to a healthy lifestyle and I love that fact that they allow the user to workout in the privacy of their own home around their schedule. If you are interested in purchasing a program and working with me as your Coach, please contact me.
I lead an awesome team of Beachbody Coaches and am always taking on new Coaches under my wing. If you are interested in becoming a Beachbody Coach, contact me and we can talk.
My philosophy on life and health/fitness is everything in moderation. Life shouldn’t be about restrictions, it should be about living every day to the fullest. I follow the 90/10 rule in my life and with my clients – be perfect 90% of the time and the other 10% can be filled with guilt-free cheats that won’t affect your progress.
I grew up struggling with my weight. I was a trim child but when I hit puberty, my weight started to fluctuate in a big way. I didn’t have nutritional knowledge or a strong support system to help me manage, and unfortunately I spent a lot of my time frustrated and spinning my wheels. I’ve always been active, I love working out, and I also love food – both good and bad. I had no balance and no guidance, and honestly I had no idea what was going on. When I was 19, I was fed up and saw a doctor, who put me on birth control pills to regulate my hormones. I lost a bunch of weight and felt great!
In 2009, my husband, Erik, and I decided to start building a family and I went off my birth control…and I gained 30 pounds in about three months! I was working out and eating healthy and the scale just kept climbing. I finally saw my doctor and found out that I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), which activated when I hit puberty and was the source of all of my frustrations. I started to educate myself about it and modified my life even more.
My PCOS causes infertility. Without medication, I only have one or two menstrual cycles a year and ovulating is random. We pursued fertility treatments in the form of medicated cycles, IUIs, and finally IVF. In 2013, our first IVF cycle was successful and I became pregnant with twins. Unfortunately I lost them 16 weeks into my pregnancy. In 2014, I lost our second pregnancy, a little boy, at 23 weeks into my pregnancy. I also suffered a miscarriage at 7 weeks later in 2014. In 2015 we finally had a very successful pregnancy, closely monitored by our amazing doctor and high-risk specialist, that resulted in the birth of our princess, Katelyn Ann, who was born on Thanksgiving. We’ve never been more thankful for anything in our lives so her arriving on that day was very fitting.
During the course of these fertility issues, I gained 50 pounds and hit the highest number I’ve ever seen on the scale. I was absolutely miserable and vowed to make a change. After the loss of our little boy in 2014, I called NASM and got set up to take the CPT course (which I passed on November 1, 2014 on my first attempt) and I started working to lose the weight I had gained so I could have the healthiest pregnancy possible. I lost 45 pounds before becoming pregnant with Katey in 2015, and during my pregnancy I gained 25.4 pounds and lost it to the number by two weeks post-partum. I worked out my entire pregnancy, right through my 37th week (I delivered at 38w2d), and I loved every single minute of it.
I am currently working toward my 50 pound goal, and then I will be setting a few more goals for myself.
I’ve been through a lot, I’ve dealt with a lot that hasn’t been fair. How you deal with obstacles defines the kind of person you are, and I want others to view me as strong and inspirational. I have held my head high and will continue to, and I work to support others. Every year I host the Tiny Angels Virtual 5K on October 15, Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day, in memory of the little ones Erik and I lost, and others who were lost too soon. All profit is donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
What I Offer My Clients
I believe one thing that sets me apart from some other trainers is that I’ve been through my own weight struggles. I’m still on my journey to reach my goals. I know the mental, emotional and physical struggle of gaining and losing. I can relate.
All of my training plans are 100% custom designed to fit individual client needs, based on their current fitness level and goals. In addition to being a trainer, I am a Fitness Nutrition Specialist and I can help guide clients to meet their nutrition goals as well. I help all of my clients set up their calorie and macronutrient goals, teach them how to properly track their food, and give them tips and tricks that I follow on a daily basis.
For clients local to the Cleveland area, I offer one-on-one training programs in the comfort of your own home around your schedule, and within the next year I will have a location for private fitness sessions as well. More details coming on that soon!
