As I mentioned earlier in the month, Bob’s Red Mill, a brand I trust and love, is now providing protein powders to fit into your busy (and healthy) eating schedule! They graciously sent me the sample pack pictured above to try, and I LOVE THEM!
The new protein powders feature these ingredients and dietary benefits:
- Gluten free, vegan, made from clean ingredients
- 240 mg of omega-3 per serving
- Pea Protein Powder, rich in iron and containing all the essential amino acids. Unlike other pea protein powders (processed with chemical solvents) theirs are isolated from yellow peas using a low-heat, water based method.
- Chia Seeds (my favorite!), an endurance enhancing superfood. The word chia comes from Mayan word for strength. It is also a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and dietary fiber, including soluable fiber.
- Psyllium seed for fiber, particularly soluable fiber. It’s a natural kickstart to digestive health.
- Probiotics that support the immune and digestive system health.
- Insulin derived from the root of the chicory plant using a non-chemical water filtration process. It also provides a subtle sweet flavor and fiber.
- Monk fruit extract, dubbed “Buddha fruit” and made from the melon-like fruit of the Siraitia grosvenorii (a perennial vine native to Southeast Asia), is nearly 200 times sweeter than cane sugar but adds no calories to your protein drink and doesn’t impact blood sugar levels.
The flavors available are:
- Protein & Fiber. This unique blend is made from pea protein powder, chicory root fiber, psyllium husk powder, chia seeds and beneficial probiotics. It is gluten free, vegan, a good source of omega-3, excellent source of iron, and high in protein and fiber.
- Chai Protein. This unique blend is made from pea protein powder, chicory root fiber, chia seeds, beneficial probiotics, and monk fruit extract for a touch of sweetness. It is gluten free, vegan, a good source of omega-3, excellent source of iron, and high in protein and fiber.
- Chocolate Protein. This unique blend is made from pea protein powder, chicory root fiber, chia seeds, beneficial probiotics, and monk fruit extract for a touch of sweetness. It is gluten free, vegan, a good source of omega-3, excellent source of iron, and high in protein and fiber.

I have enjoyed multiple recipes with these powders as the base and I’m enjoying them. The texture is interesting due to the chia seeds – if you have never experienced it, think of soft little pearls mixed into your drink. Odd but enjoyable.
My favorite thing about these smoothies is that I can have them first thing in the morning before my workouts, or I can take them on the go when I have errands to run for work or home. I’m working on weight loss and muscle building simultaneously, so nutritious snacks throughout the day help me keep my calories and macros up, and these protein powders help me keep them clean, too. Plus they taste amazing, which is always a plus – I always feel good because I never feel deprived and I know I’m providing my body with strong nutrients as well. Bob’s Red Mill is pushing their #FuelYourAwesomeness #SummerStrong initiative and these protein powders are right on point!
The following recipes were provided to me with the powders, and I tried them all and really enjoyed them. They’re basic enough so that I had most ingredients on hand, but they’re unique enough where I find myself craving the taste and wanting more. I have been and will continue to use these recipes as a part of my day.
