So my big announcement today is….I’M PREGNANT!!
My husband and I are very happy to be expecting our first child, especially after the loss of our twins last year 16 weeks into my pregnancy.
With that being said, my goals this year are going to be structured around my pregnancy, but I also don’t want it to hold me back, either.
1. Continue to Work Towards My Normal Weight and Have a Healthy Pregnancy.
This is so important to me, especially because this pregnancy comes at a time where I’m still working to get back to my regular weight after years of fertility issues and treatments. My doctor and I have decided that I should only gain the absolute minimum weight I need to during this pregnancy, and I’ve been given the go-ahead to keep working on losing weight during the early part of my pregnancy through eating healthy and working out, but never depriving myself of the calories I need for the baby.
I’m very excited to be going into this pregnancy with only one baby, because that means I can keep up all the workouts I’ve been doing, including running. I’ve also invested in a bunch of pregnancy workouts that I’ve been doing, and I love them! They’re lower intensity than I’m used to, but they help me identify what I need to be working on throughout each trimester.
2. Finish Body Beast.
After I finished Pump last year, I moved onto Body Beast to continue building muscle. I stopped the program after 5 weeks due to our fertility treatments and my first trimester – the meds I was on and the hormones from just being pregnant made me super nauseous, and my tiredness was insane. As we’re starting this year, I’m finally done with my meds (best Christmas present ever!) and I’m 10 weeks pregnant, so my first trimester is almost over. With my last pregnancy, I got a few weeks into the second trimester before our loss, and I know there’s a significant change in tiredness and nausea for me, so I’m confident I’ll be able to get back on track. I’m not sure if I’ll go back to Beast right away or do another program first…but it will get done this year for sure.
3. Complete Tae-Bo PT 24/7.
Last year I really wanted to do this program as a pregnancy workout, and this year it’s going to happen.
4. Complete Another Round of Pump.
I believe I truly found my soulmate workouts with Pump and Combat/TurboFire and when I’m done with the Beast, I think I want to do another 90 days of Pump before moving onto the P90X3 that I just purchased. I got super toned with Pump this year and I want to stay strong my entire pregnancy, but I don’t think I want to do Beast again and I don’t think P90X3 will be a good fit because of how much I’ll need to modify.
5. Walk/Run 500 Miles.
The past two years I’ve only gotten about halfway to this goal, so I’m setting it again. I’m planning on walking/running during my entire pregnancy, and I know as soon as I get the go-ahead from my doctor, I’ll be back to it this fall to help me lose any pregnancy weight I put on (or to continue toward my normal weight). Let’s see how far I can get!
6. Participate in More Races & Run a Full 10K by the End of the Year.
As I stated in my 2013 wrap-up post, I’ve fallen in love with virtual races since they can be done anytime, anywhere, and there’s a lot to pick from so I’m never without something to run for. I plan to continue running as I can during my pregnancy (and even walking if need be toward the end), and I would like to nail a 10K by the end of the year if possible. I ran one this year, but it was a combo of walking and running, and I was disappointed with my time (5:00 longer than my goal). I’ve signed up for a virtual 14K that takes place the entire month of January, so that will for sure set me off on the right foot.
7. Continue to Grow my Beachbody Business and Help More People.
I know I’ll probably take a little downtime after delivery, but I want to keep going strong with my Beachbody business and help my challengers reach their goals and help my team of coaches reach their business goals. I’m working on training my team and I’ve got a few things planned that I’m hoping will help them stay motivated and working toward their goals. Becoming a Beachbody Coach has been such a wonderful opportunity and I completely smashed my goals for 2013, I want to do the same for 2014. 🙂
8. Become a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist.
I’m still ironing out the details for this – which school I’m going through, what programs I’m going to complete, etc., but this has become a very big goal of mine in the past couple of months and I think it is the perfect route for me to take to further my education and my business, as well as give me more that I can offer my challengers. I wouldn’t dive in headfirst into this on my own, but being with Beachbody has shown me that it’s something I love and would definitely want to do longterm – so time to finalize details and hit the books!
9. Participate in the New Balance #LaceUp365 Event.
New Balance is running an event in 2014 supporting breast cancer survivors – use the hashtag #laceup365 and work out every day, which will dedicate your workout to a cancer survivor. I love to workout every day anyway, so this gives me an additional challenge.
10. End 2014 at my Pre-Pregnancy Weight…or less.
This one may be a long shot, but based on the fact I’m trying not to gain too much during my pregnancy, I’m going to put it out there and see if I can get it. 🙂
