Disclaimer: Other than receiving a few free samples from Manitoba Harvest, I am not being compensated for this review – the opinions in this post are my own based on my experience with the product.
I mixed my sample with 8 ounces of almond milk and it tasted like a bland version of chocolate milk with a bit of a grainy taste – I guess that sounds negative but it’s not, I didn’t mind it at all. I tried mixing in peanut butter like I do with my other chocolate protein shakes and that was not enjoyable at all – I’d rather just have it plain. The packet also says you can mix into yogurt or hot cereal, and it’s great for baking – so the possibilities are endless. They have an awesome recipe page that gives you lots of great treats to try with their products, too.
One serving of the HempPro 70 protein powder is 130 calories and contains the following nutrients:
- 3.5 g of total fat
- 11 g of carbohydrates
- 25 mg of sodium
- 2 g of fiber
- 7 g of sugar
- 14 g of protein
The HempPro 70 is also available in Vanilla. If you’re looking for more protein, you’d want to go with their Original flavor, which has 20 g of protein per serving (available in 1 pound, 2 pound, and 5 pound containers).
HempPro 50 protein powder (15 g of protein, 7 g of fiber per serving) and HempPro Fibre (13 g of fiber per serving) are also available. It’s nice to have options based on your needs, and Manitoba Harvest doesn’t come up short on variety. Not sure which product is best for you? Check out the protein powder comparison chart, which has this chart and more details on why each of the proteins are unique and what they have to offer.
This product sells for $24.99 on Manitoba Harvest’s site for a 10 serving bag, which comes out to about $2.50 a serving. I actually even found it cheaper on Amazon.com, priced at $20.14 for the same bag, which is $2.00 a serving.
Manitoba Harvest’s products are based solely on hemp, a “super plant” as they call it. They refer to it as the “green buffalo” because every part of the plant can be used. All of their products are also non-GMO project verified and vegan. In addition to the HempPro 70 Plan Based Protein Powder, they also offer hemp hearts (raw shelled hemp seed), hemp oil, and combo starter packs if you want to try a little bit of everything.
